Announcing Missouri’s New Public Education Data Explorer
Introducing a clearer, more accessible way to understand how Missouri’s students are doing
Today, we’re launching Missouri’s new Education Data Explorer, a public website designed to make information about student learning, progress, and postsecondary outcomes easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to trust. Built with input from educators, policymakers, journalists, researchers, and community organizations across the state, the site brings together the most widely used indicators in one place and presents them in clear, plain language.
For years, Missouri families, advocates, and decision makers have relied on a patchwork of data portals and spreadsheets to answer simple questions: How are students in my district doing? Are outcomes improving? How do we compare to similar communities? This site provides a unified view of those answers. Every chart and table is traceable to raw state data for full transparency, and each dashboard includes context to help users understand the numbers.
Over the coming weeks, new data features will be added, including:
- -Enrollment & Demographics, showing how Missouri’s student population is changing across districts, sectors, and regions.
- -Student Achievement, with Missouri grade-level and end of course test results that can be explored over time or compared to state trends.
- -Student Growth, translating Missouri’s growth measure into clear, relatable terms that complement proficiency.
- -Attendance, including chronic absenteeism patterns that have shifted substantially since the pandemic.
- -Graduation & Postsecondary Outcomes, showing how students move from high school into postsecondary experiences.
Missouri’s education story is complex, and no single number captures it. But by bringing these indicators together and presenting them with clarity and honesty, we hope this tool supports more informed decision making, whether you’re preparing a legislative briefing, writing a news story, launching a community initiative, or simply trying to better understand local schools.
We invite you to explore the dashboards, download the data, and share your feedback. Your insights will help us continue to improve the platform in the months ahead.
